Baylee + Paul

Date
Jul, 11, 2018

Baylee Nielsen married her sweetheart Paul Peterson in the Provo City Center Temple one year ago this week! The beautiful couple celebrated with family, friends, gorgeous decor, and a downright delightful dance party at Quiet Meadow Farms in Mapleton.

Before they met, it was a series of mishaps and misunderstandings worthy of a romantic comedy … Broken dates! Broken down cars! Texts gone wrong! Baylee even planned to “act like a brat” and get out of the blind date, but that plan quickly failed when she finally, truly saw Paul for the first time.

“GAME OVER. I liked what I saw. I sat up straighter, shooshed my hair, and made eye contact with him like a normal human being,” Baylee says. “We burned through lots of topics and I ate my entire Cafe Rio pork salad (he was impressed). Then, we headed back to his apartment to make pazookies. We went up to his theatre room to watch some basketball and ate our dessert. Paul sat a good four feet away from me at first — I remember thinking, ‘Maybe I should have washed my hair.’ But I had a few moves up my sleeve. So I whipped out the old ‘show-him-a-picture-on-your-phone trick’ that requires you to scoot closer to the other person to show them the picture on the phone. And then after you show them the picture, you stay there. IT WORKED! We were now one foot away from each other and we continued to burn through more topics and lost track of time. Before we both knew, it was 2 a.m. and my grandma was texting me asking why I wasn’t home yet and informing me ‘the holy ghost goes to bed at midnight!’ Muahahaha.”

Baylee then broke her own rule of not kissing on the first date (“I believe it’s bad luck for a relationship, but I wanted to kiss him SO BAD.”)

Fast-forward two years later, and there was no bad luck to be found. Baylee and Paul’s wedding was a delight. The florals were incredible, and the decor was sentimental and stunning. Baylee’s dress from Pritchett Bridal was chic, elegant and fun. (Those delicate lace cap sleeves just slay us.) The photography by Ashley of Zibetti Photo + Film was marry and magical. And the exited their reception amidst a bounty of dearly-beloved balloons.

“Moral of the story, blind dates work!” Baylee says. “Tell your friends.”

Consider yourself told! Now come scroll with us. And Happy Anniversary, Baylee and Paul!

P.S. Make sure you scroll all the way to the end and see their perfect wedding film!
