Life Elevated

JULY 3, 2014  //  Liz + Aaron

Now this is the pursuit of happiness. Elizabeth Lee and Aaron Fujino — both born and raised in Hawaii — have been best friends for 13 years. And from their engagement on July 4, 2013, to their marriage a year later, Independence Day has become their own declaration of love. But these patriotic nuptials almost didn’t happen. “It seemed so silly to spend hard-earned money on one day,” Liz says. “But after weeks of deliberation, we asked ourselves, ‘If we don’t celebrate our marriage, what will celebrate in life?’ We knew it was once in a lifetime.” With the wedding on the calendar, the couple developed a brand — rich, rustic Americana. And after touring hotels, resorts and ranches in both Hawaii, Santa Barbara and Utah, the choice was clear. “Our wedding’s signature detail was Utah — life elevated,” says Liz, who earned both her undergraduate degree and MBA at BYU. “We wanted to share this place that we love with the people we love.” And share they did. The wedding spread over four days and included a barbecue and water rafting. “It was important to us to disconnect from our busy lives and create an experience for our beloved family and friends.”
