It’s Magazine Monday — our first one from the new 2019 issue! Here’s a closer look at the stunning wedding of Katrina and Christian Hobbs on June 28, 2018.
When Christian and I met, we were both going to Utah State University and he asked me to study with him. We met at the library, but we didn’t have much to do because it was the beginning of the semester. We left the library, grabbed our swimsuits and headed to First Dam on the Logan River. We jumped in, ran through the sprinklers, got sushi and ate at the amphitheater on campus. It was fun, spontaneous and unforgettable.
Christian proposed on his family’s mountain property on an ATV ride. We went to a beautiful lookout where he told me the sweetest things, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. His sister and one of our friends took photos of it all from afar. Afterward, we went back to his parents’ house to find both of our families there to congratulate us. I will never forget the excitement and happiness I felt that night.
When we started planning the wedding, one of the first things I chose was my dress. My favorite thing about it was the sparkly details. Anyone who knows me can attest that this was the dress for me — I am all about sparkle and glitter.
When it came time to pick a venue, I fell in love with the staircase at The Vineyards at Mt. Naomi Farms in Logan. We added florals to it and I loved walking down with “Canon in D” being played by our string quartet. We also used it for our grand entrance to kick off the reception.
One of the sweetest moments of the day was when Christian sang “I Look To You” by Whitney Houston at our wedding luncheon. That song will always be precious to me. Another great memory was when our reception started. Our incredible band started to play and it was officially time to celebrate. I could hardly hold still in our receiving line because I wanted to dance.
GET THE PICTURE If the sparkle fits, wear it! Katrina is a glitter and sparkles girl and her shimmery seams and those ivory Vera Wang heels owned that aisle. Katrina’s bridesmaids had perfect peplums and the couple’s best bite was the French macarons from Flour & Flourish. “It was a dream of mine to have macarons at my wedding, and they turned out to be a very elegant treat!” Katrina says. The entire day went off without a hitch thanks to top-notch vendors like Kenzie Victory Photography and Rachael Ellen Events. “Rachael made it possible for our families to enjoy the wedding,” Katrina says.
