Mother knows best, y’all.

Emily and Matt’s mothers decided to set up their children on a date — and the rest is dearly beloved history.

In April of last year, Matt and Emily made the decision to become exclusive just moments before walking onto a production set where they would be modeling as bride and groom. So their first hour as an official couple is captured in a stunning editorial photographed by Emily’s own sister, Breanna White Photography. After a perfect summer together, Matt surprised Emily outside the Museum of Art on BYU campus with a ring and proposal of eternity. Their engagement session took place in downtown Salt Lake City, opting for a look and style true to them as a couple: modern, mature and resoundingly romantic.

Short engagements are not uncommon in Utah‚ but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy! Luckily for Emily, she had her sister’s knowledge of the wedding industry as they happily planned out every detail — from the impeccable invitations by Eccentricity to her simply stunning gown from Mary’s Bridal.

On Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, Matt and Emily wed at the Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temple. Opting to stay away from a holiday theme, Matt and Emily’s wedding held rich hues of eggplant, mauve and rose gold. Their planner, Tressa Roberts of Cultivated Events Co., integrated these hues into details of the design, especially through the custom hand-dyed table runners. The floral by the team at Every Blooming Thing added textures to the urban space. The use of succulents paired with the modern use of an artichoke in the bride’s bouquet elevated this wedding to another level of concept and design. The reception was quite the party, with food from Waffle Love, the interactive Photo Booth Bus, and a fun DJ spinning tunes.

Emily and Matt created a celebration that was truly them. As they left the reception, Matt and Emily paused for a special hug with their matchmaker mothers. After the goodbyes, Matt and Emily drove off, confident in the direction … because it was together.
