Cabin Fever

Engagements sessions are some of the absolute sweetest. Gorgeous, personal photos of just you and your honey in one of the most meaningful times of your life. This beautiful session of local couple DJ and Caitlin is no exception. But we’ll let Caitlin take the story from here …

“DJ and I met at an interesting time. I had just moved to Utah from New York, with plans to graduate a couple months later and go straight back. He had never had a girlfriend and he wasn’t exactly looking. We hadn’t planned on anything but working and going to school all summer, but we both got Tinder as a source for weekend distraction. But then … we met on Tinder, and our plans changed. I’m staying in Utah and he’s going to marry his first girlfriend: both very unexpected for us.

The story of his proposal is pretty unconventional because we kind of planned it together. I even wore the ring to school the Friday before, and when the teacher asked if anyone had cool weekend plans, I yelled, ‘I’M GETTIN’ ENGAGED!’ Which — I know — is ridiculous and makes no sense. We drove to Seattle, we stayed at my grandma’s, he had a long talk with my dad, and he very soon after asked me to marry him with the ring and some Mormon missionary name tags that said Elder and Sister Toomey.

We got our pictures taken at the cabin my grandpa William F. Edwards built at Sundance, when he was a dean at BYU. I’ve been going to the cabin since I was a little girl and now it’s a nice place to get away with friends.”

Have the happiest life, you two!
