But Michelle Cousins of Michelle Leo Events says it’s time to brush those fears aside. “We’ve executed so many white and green or white and blush weddings over the last five years that I was anxious to work with dramatic colors!” Michelle says. “Be adventurous! If you play it safe with your design, your wedding could easily look like everything else out there on Pinterest. Choose linens with texture, explore patterns, layers, and lighting. Event design should be approached with a feeling you’re trying to capture, not a photograph of something pretty. Lead with your emotions, and the visual pieces will fall into place.”
LAYERS OF LOVE This inspiration at Goldener Hirsch in Park City is elevated by layers upon layers of lux details. For starters, that acrylic table runner — custom designed by Michelle Leo Events and Twelve30 Creative — gives the table depth and drama. With gorgeously glam florals by Decoration Inc. underneath, and countless candles layered on top, the scene positively gilmmers. The bridal jumpsuit from Chantel Lauren is flirty and fashion-forward, as is the turtleneck and striking jacket from Perfectly Suited by Garth. Both are perfect for a rehearsal dinner or less traditional celebration. Oh, and one more thing: These micro-weddings have been so charming, we hope it’s a trend that stays post-pandemic.”These smaller events may still be decked out to the nines, but there’s an intimate energy between guests,” Michelle says. “It’s like a giant hug for the soul.”
