CHLOE COOK + LUKE PARKIN 9.22.23
Chloe Cook and Luke Parkin became best friends in seventh grade. After living their best lives in the friend zone for many years, Luke asked Chloe if she would date him during their senior year of high school.
“I said no, trying to preserve the friendship. Fast forward three years after that, and we started dating,” Chloe says.
After three and a half years of dating, Chloe and Luke tied a knot on the invisible string that had been tying them together since the seventh grade on September 22, 2023.
“I started planning our wedding a year before the big day,” Chloe says. “I knew I wanted formal attire, beautiful chandeliers and white flowers everywhere.”
With her vision in mind, Chloe went forward and started planning even without an official engagement. A few months later, Luke got down on one knee at the same place they’d had their very first date.
“We got married at the Salt Lake Country Club, which is the same place that my two older sisters and my parents got married. I had always dreamed of getting married there ever since I was little — it was so special to follow in their footsteps and share that with them,” says Chloe.
Their wedding day was filled with nods to their heritage.
“Something special to me and my wedding was the legacy and tradition we included,” Chloe says. “I wore a necklace that has been in my family since the early 1800s, and has been worn at weddings every generation since. My two older sisters, my mother, my grandmother, my great-great-grandmother and so on wore that exact same necklace on their wedding days.”
Not only was tradition included in the place they wed and the necklace around her neck, but they also had a heritage table set up at the reception with pictures of all the women in Chloe’s family on their wedding day, six generations back.
A new heirloom created? Something special that Chloe and Luke can pass on to their posterity from their wedding day is a painting that a live-action painter worked on during their wedding and reception. A beautiful abstract representation of their perfect day.
