Emy and Bryson met in the most unique and romantic way possible: scuba diving. What started in a scuba diving class led to a romantic surprise engagement at the Great Barrier Reef, all the way in Australia, a year later.
“We dove four times a day. We finished the first day diving after dark, searching with flashlights for sharks. Their glowing green eyes announced their presence before their whole body swam into view. It was surreal. After the dive, we recounted the experience in shock!”
The only thing that could beat that shock was later that night, when Bryson proposed! What’s better than popping the question in Australia? Doing it after shark diving!
The Wedding Photographer Gets Married
As a wedding photographer and videographer herself, Emy was “bursting with ideas” when it came to her own wedding. And it came together in the most beautiful, perfect way, at their Taylorsville Temple wedding ceremony with a beautiful blue reception to follow.
And of course, their wedding photos are just as perfect as their love story! What else would you expect from a seasoned wedding photographer herself?
Incorporating Real Art Into The Wedding Day
Emy especially loved that they had not only one live painter at their wedding—but two! Both artists whom Emy had grown to look up to at school.
Joseph Brickey, known for his mural surrounding the Christus at the LDS Rome Temple, among many other pieces, live-painted during the reception. And it was the only time he had done something like this.
“I was a student under Joseph at Beaux Academy. Another fellow student, Soren Cicon, also painted a stunning photo from our bridals during the reception.”
When your wedding aesthetic is as classy and artsy as Emy’s, how could you not incorporate real art into your day? It was the perfect way to capture their elegant, “old money” vibe.
Old Money Art and Fashion
Speaking of old money—their bridal photos at McCune Mansion are amazing. It’s giving rich globe-trotting couple in the best way.
Emy also loved Bryson’s custom suit and her custom send-off dress from Utah designer Tommaso Cardullo. What’s more artsy than a custom design experience with an Italian designer?
“Tommaso Cardullo designed Bryson’s blue suit, a shade we couldn’t find anywhere else. We learned the inner workings of the details and extra steps that presented Bryce at his best. My send-off dress was a collaboration; I have never felt more beautiful!”
Here’s your sign to make your groom your ‘something blue!’
Another notable detail from their artsy, blue, old-money wedding was the flower girl dresses. “My niece’s flower girl outfit was inspired by the outfit I wore as a niece flower girl two decades before.” Talk about a full-circle moment! It’s the small intentional moments like this that really make a dream wedding come to life in a special way.
