MAKENZIE MANNING + MATHIS CLARKE | 1.20.23

Once upon a time, Mathis Clarke and Makenzie Manning were on their first date on March 24, 2022 when an older lady told them they looked so in love that they should get married. Mathis and Makenzie took her advice and got married quickly after this, on January 20, 2023.

“I had always dreamed of a wedding like those in the movies,” Makenzie says. “I was obsessed with every Disney Princess’s wedding gown, and my wedding Pinterest board dates back to the seventh grade.”

Once engaged, Makenzie’s first step was finding the dress. Off to Pritchett Bridal she went, where she found the Disney Princess gown of her dreams. “We had been in love with the chandelier and fireplace at Walker Farms and knew it would be our venue. It gives a feeling of elegance while still being warm and inviting,” Makenzie says. “We chose the Draper Utah Temple and were lucky enough to be sealed by Elder Zwick, whose company built that temple.”

The details were timeless and included classic touches – including greenery to offset the white hydrangeas and roses. The couple’s wedding invitations were embossed with gold lettering with an emblem at the top designed by Makenzie herself. The details are so classic, it feels like you’re in a Nancy Meyer movie.

The celebration included a live band that played the night away while encouraging lots and lots of dancing … and the bride and groom took them up on it. “Mathis danced so hard that his pants ripped, and he still did a backflip to show it all off!” Makenzie says. “We were all dancing so crazy that one of my eyelash strips fell right off. To cool off afterwards, Mathis chugged a 2-liter of Coke Zero right before we left.”

The send-off has become one of Makenzie and Mathis’s favorite memories of the day. “There was so much adrenaline going through the both of us!” Makenzie says. Every wedding is not without its funny moments, but the whole day was still a fairytale like Makenzie had always dreamed.

Makenzie wore her mother’s veil during the luncheon as “something borrowed,” and then during the line and dance party, she wore blue slippers gifted by her auntie Sherrie. Makenzie weaved sentimental details into her timeless winter theme flawlessly.
