That Food is Fire
Everyone needs a wedding caterer, but why not go for something that’s just a little extra? And by extra, we mean interactive. Magleby’s Catering offers interactive food stations that are not only delicious beyond your wildest wedding catered dreams, but exciting for you and your guests.
We’re talking lighting things on fire.
So what do we mean by interactive? According to Marcia Green, the General Manager of Magleby’s Catering, “An interactive food station features a live chef preparing dishes right in front of your guests.” It’s like a teppanyaki but for wedding desserts (or whatever else you want Magleby’s to feature on your big day—they can do anything)!
“It’s an exciting way to infuse energy into your reception. Some of our favorites include the dramatic flamed crepe station—offering a wide range of sweet fillings—a cozy soup and grilled cheese station (perfect for fall and winter), and an elevated All-American burger or slider bar, complete with fresh toppings and sides like beer-battered fries, rosemary-garlic fries, creamy potato salad, and refreshing salted watermelon.”
If you’re drooling already, don’t worry, we are too. Now imagine all of that deliciousness, but on fire…
Reimagining the Buffet
“We’ve been offering interactive live stations for 16 years, and it all started with a desire to transform the traditional buffet experience. We wanted to create something that not only satisfied the taste buds but also brought people together.” And what brings wedding guests together more than good food? Good food with a little bit of wow!
“I remember brides telling us they wanted something different—they wanted to enjoy a meal while still being able to mingle, talk, and connect with their guests. They didn’t want to be confined to a single table, looking at everyone from a distance. So, we reimagined the buffet by spreading it out around the room in smaller, personalized setups, each with its own chef. Add a little fire for dramatic flair, and we had a winning concept. We set out to make dining an interactive part of the celebration, where the experience was just as important as the food itself.”
Take it from Marcia, your wedding day is all about the experiences, so why not include your food?
When it comes to “reimagining the buffet” at your wedding, interactive food stations can elevate your favorite foods and desserts from good to great. It brings a certain level of excitement to your meal that a regular buffet—or even a subdued, plated dinner—might not.
And if you’re worried about a buffet not being formal or elegant enough, but don’t want a full-service wait staff, then these interactive stations will be your best friend!
“Interactive stations bring a level of personality, energy, and engagement that traditional buffets or plated dinners often can’t match. They allow couples to showcase their style through customized menus and creative presentation, turning the meal into an experience rather than just a service. It’s a perfect balance—less formal than a plated dinner, yet more dynamic and elevated than a standard buffet. Guests love the interaction, and it becomes a talking point long after the event.”
Everyone wants their guests to have a great time on their wedding day—wow them with something like flaming crepes!
What Kinds of Food You Can Cater in Your Interactive Food Stations
But how do you know where to start with Maglebys’ interactive food stations? Marcia mentioned some of their crowd favorites, but there’s so much more where that came from. Flamed donuts, pizookie stations, or even a gourmet pasta and ravioli bar are just a few more things you could use to really turn up the heat of your wedding day.
“Another favorite is our live ravioli station. Guests choose their pasta, sauce, and mix-ins, and our chefs sauté everything to order. The aroma, the movement, the customization—it all turns dinner into a full sensory experience that guests rave about long after the wedding.”
We’re over here raving about all of the above. Is it a faux pas to visit the pasta bar more than once at a wedding?
According to Marcia, the pasta bar is something that every 2025 couple should consider for their wedding. “It’s a perfect blend of elegance and comfort, offering something for everyone. Guests can customize their pasta, sauce, and mix-ins, and then watch as our chef sautés everything to perfection. It’s ideal for weddings of any style and season.”
The flamed stations especially, are really “fire” with brides and grooms. “Our flamed stations—like crepes and donuts—are always showstoppers. There’s something unforgettable about watching your dessert flambeed right in front of you; it adds a touch of drama and excitement that guests can’t get enough of.”
And we can’t get enough of it either!
Endless Options
But that’s not all—Magleby’s is the perfect wedding caterer for serving anything you want at your wedding, not just their popular options.
“We had the pleasure of working with a couple—she was from Hawaii, and he was from Mexico, though their wedding took place in Utah. To honor their roots and share their love for the flavors they missed, we created a ‘Coastal Ceviche and Tiki Taco Station.’ The station featured a build-your-own taco bar with fresh seafood, vibrant tropical salsas like mango-habanero and pineapple-lime, and mini ceviche shooters.” And of course, those tacos were flaming!
“We also included a Hawaiian shave ice station with ice cream in the middle to complete the island vibe. The station was beautifully decorated with palm leaves, bamboo accents, and soft coral-and-teal uplighting to match their color palette with throwing a few Mexican runners around the room as well. It was a true fusion of their cultures and everyone loved it!”
Don’t mind us, we’re just calling Magleby’s right now to see if we can get a little taste of those fire tacos…
Advice For Booking an Interactive Food Station
Marcia recommends booking an interactive food station for your wedding six to 12 months in advance, especially for fall and spring weddings. “But we’ve pulled off stunning live stations with less notice—we’ll do everything we can to make it happen.”
And that’s the epitome of an experience with Magleby’s catering—not only is the food interactive, but working with their team for your big day will be a dream interaction, both before and after your wedding. They specialize in stand-out service as well as custom catering.
“Our team is trained in both culinary execution and guest interaction. Every chef and server knows the importance of presentation, timing, and keeping the vibe professional while putting the customer first. Particularly with our live stations, we want the customers to feel comfortable while they watch their food being made.”
Marcia’s advice when you’re deciding on an interactive food station—or any wedding catering—is to make it personal. Choose something that will reflect you and your love story! “Food is more than just a meal.”
She also says, “Focus on quality over quantity. One or two thoughtfully designed, well-executed stations can have a bigger impact than trying to do too much. We specialize in adapting to tight spaces and can create compact live stations that still feel elevated. A single standout experience done right can be just as memorable as a full spread.”
And it can be even more memorable when it’s literally on fire!
