Elyssa has been doing professional hair and makeup for fourteen years, being one of the last to ever graduate from the incredible SLCC cosmetology program. She’s an expert at all things beauty, but has narrowed down her focus over the last six years to bridal. Starting this year, Elyssa is spending all of her time and attention on styling brides!

Elyssa wants to know who you are, so she can build a look that brings out the best in you. Who you are is reflected in your hair and makeup; “I want them to feel like themselves, and just bring out what’s already there. My goal is to find something that everyone is comfortable with.”

Inevitably along the way, and as anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Elyssa in any capacity will tell you, she will become your best friend. She’s the kind of person who everyone flocks to when she walks into the room, like a beacon of light in an enchanted forest. She invests so much time and love into all of her brides.
“We spend hours together, about once a month, so by the time it’s your wedding day, I just love you so much.” If you work with her for everything (and trust us you’ll want to, once you see yourself after she’s done), she’ll be with you for your engagements, bridals, trial runs, bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, and finally your wedding day. And any more hair and makeup looks that you want! “I’m always sad by the time the wedding is over because I won’t see them as much after that!”
Each connection with Elyssa starts with a phone call. Right off the bat, Elyssa asks fun questions about your wedding day, your timeline, and the look you want. But that’s just the beginning—the first call is when she begins to articulate the entire vibe of your wedding day.
“We’re curating what that whole morning is going to look like. I’ll ask the bride, ‘Do you want this to be super cozy comfy where it’s just us, or do you want it to be a big party with everyone and charcuterie and party music playing?’”
Elyssa isn’t just a magician with a makeup brush, she takes the role of ‘godmother’ very seriously. Not only will she slay your look, but she’s going to be your biggest supporter, whether you’re just venting or you need someone to be the buffer to who you let in or out of the room on your wedding day. By the time you’re done with your first trial run, she’ll know that your mom gets stressed about flowers, your maid of honor relies on her phone calendar like her life depends on it, and you prefer listening to pop music over country. The bottom line is, Elyssa isn’t afraid to take charge of the getting ready portion of your day; she’s on Team Bride and will always have your back!
And it’s not just on your wedding day either. She connects with all of her brides on Marco Polo right after you decide she’s your girl. She wants to really build a relationship with you, and help you with every stressful step of planning. “You fall in love with someone and then suddenly you’re a full-time event planner.”
“Reach out with anything at any time, it doesn’t have to be just about hair and makeup, whether it’s ‘crap I need a DJ’ or ‘my sister won’t wear this color what should I do?’” Elyssa is always willing to help with anything, no matter what—like a true fairy godmother would. She’ll even help out the grooms who want it!
Perfectly Perfect in Every Way
Elyssa schedules at least three hours for every full hair and makeup look. She says that usually the more effortless it looks, the more time went into it. In her words, “I’ve done it a million times, and every time, it takes three hours.” That’s why it’s important to her to know the outline of your wedding day, and how you want to approach it. “You’ll be spending your whole morning with me on your wedding day, you want it to be amazing.” She’ll work with you to build the perfect timeline for your day and make sure there’s plenty of time for bibbity-bobbity-beauty!
For Elyssa, her work is an art form. She’s not only amazing at what she does, but she loves doing it. “I’m like a chef with a new ingredient, they’ll see something and say ‘I have to use this somehow,’ and I do that with hair and makeup.’”
“I’d rather take it out and re-do it a million times than just leave it as ‘almost right.’”
