When Haley and Brant got engaged on a sunny, sandy beach in Cabo, they had one thing on their minds: a sparkling, snowy Park City winter destination wedding amongst the ski slopes of Utah.
Haley and Brant originally met while Haley was in her senior year at the University of Alabama, and throughout their relationship, both have had a love for traveling together. They wanted a smaller wedding, with a big celebration, and Utah was the ultimate destination.
After talking about having a wedding internationally, and even considering Cabo, since that’s where Brant popped the question, he suggested the St. Regis at Deer Valley.
“Brant skied and snowboarded growing up. I had never put on skis in my life until we started dating, and the first place we went was Park City. I’ve always loved it out there; we’ve been out there four or five times to ski. So when he threw it out there, I thought it was a great idea because it was something different. We wanted something that wasn’t a cliche wedding destination necessarily, but something that was still fun; and we love to travel.”
Spectacular Snow
And of course, you can’t be a lover of Utah’s famous snow without planning your Park City winter destination wedding around the beautiful white backdrops.
“We wanted snow to be on the ground, but we didn’t want it to be absolutely freezing. And we want guests to still be able to ski.”
In typical Utah fashion, they got their wish, with a crazy snowstorm leading up to their wedding day, until the morning of, when they woke up to clear blue skies that provided the perfect backdrop for such a stunning wedding.
“It was perfect on the day of. There was so much snow, blue skies, and it was around 40 degrees. It went from being cold enough for snow and then warmed up that day. We couldn’t have planned it any better.”
Bluebird Skies
The beautiful bluebird skies and snowcapped mountains ultimately proved to be the perfect inspiration to bring their vision together; choosing French blue and white for their wedding colors set the tone, literally, for the rest of their design.
“Funny enough, blue wasn’t even intended to be one of our accent colors. When I went to the bridesmaid dress try-on appointment with a few of my girls, the sample of the gown we chose happened to be in the most beautiful French blue, a shade I instantly fell in love with. That moment became the spark for our entire color palette. We used that fabric as inspiration to weave blue throughout the design, from the rich velvet tablecloths that brought a touch of winter wonderland luxury to subtle accents in the glassware, chargers, and even our custom monogram.”
Speaking of custom monograms, what better way to bring in the beautiful ski slopes where you got married than with this stunning vinyl dance floor? And they really carved it up with a matching ice sculpture.
“We’re so glad we decided to include the vinyl floor. It was certainly an investment that went beyond our original budget, but the overall design simply wouldn’t have come together without it. The mirrored aisle reflecting the snow-covered mountains on the most perfect bluebird day was absolutely breathtaking, and the custom monogrammed dance floor tied the entire reception space together seamlessly.”
Velvet and Diamonds Are a Winter Girl’s Best Friend
Back to the blue, though; it was what set the tone, literally, for the rest of their design.
“Our colors, patterns, and textures truly set the tone for the entire design. Once we landed on that French blue from the bridesmaid dress sample, everything started to come to life. The mix of soft blues, velvets, and winter whites created such a rich, layered look that tied perfectly into the mountain setting. We wanted the design to feel cozy yet refined, with touches of luxury woven throughout, from the velvet linens and glassware details to the subtle ski-inspired elements that brought a playful nod to the season. In the end, those textures and tones really told the story of our day.”
Velvet in winter? Immediately yes. Add in a touch of sparkle to match the snow? We’re so excited, we’re ready to don the goggles and start shredding. Forget a double black diamond, Haley’s wedding ring is enough diamond to make us grab a pair of sunglasses as we head down the slopes.
Me Time Ski Time
The morning of their Park City winter destination wedding, Haley enjoyed a peaceful moment in hair and makeup that set the tone for the day perfectly.
“One thing I loved, which my hair and makeup people recommended, was for me to get ready in the bathroom separate from everybody else. I had seven bridesmaids, both my moms, and three grandmothers, so it was chaos in both rooms. I sat in there separately and got my hair and makeup done; it was just a fun morning.”
Here’s your sign to plan in some relaxing me-time amidst the excitement of matching PJs and getting ready photos!
“And it was really stress-free because, at that point, we knew everything was out of our control. We planned everything to every single detail, and it all came together.”
First Looks
Before her first look with her soon-to-be husband, Haley did a first look with her dad and her maid of honor, who is also her cousin.
“She was pretty much like my sister growing up, and I just always wanted to do that because I knew it would be special, and I always told people that if I cried, that’s when I’d cry because I’m not a very emotional person. So that was really special.”
And then came the moment where Brant saw his bride for the first time.
“The first look was so fun. I went back and forth between doing a first look and just walking down the aisle, but it makes the rest of the day so much easier when you do a first look, I think, because then you can take your bridal pictures, and you’re not doing that during the actual wedding.”
Reflecting On Love
Then came the iconic moment of walking down the mirrored aisle. It’s okay if your jaw is on the snowy ground; we know ours are.
“The ceremony space blew me out of the water because the flowers were gorgeous, and the mirrored aisle was phenomenal.”
And the visuals weren’t even the only stunning part of the ceremony; Haley walked down the aisle to a string quartet version of “Daylight” by Taylor Swift. Again, jaws on the snow-covered ground.
Haley and Brant’s favorite moment from their wedding day was the ceremony, not only because of their beautiful vows but because Brant’s brother Tyler officiated.
“He poured so much heart and effort into it, making it one of the true highlights of our wedding. In his nerves, he accidentally skipped the exchange of rings, which had everyone laughing, a perfectly imperfect moment that became one of our favorite memories. The bloopers really are sometimes the best part.”
Cross Country With Your Loved Ones
After their vows, Haley and Brant made sure to include a group picture with all of their guests, because it was important to them to include all of their loved ones and make sure everyone enjoyed the day as much as the bride and groom.
“We had done a couple of events leading up to the ceremony, but to see everybody together from so many different groups, and who traveled all the way there, was the best. With it being a destination wedding and a smaller guest list, we really wanted to make it feel personal and meaningful for everyone who made the trip to celebrate with us. The people who were there mean so much to us, so it felt important to share our vows in front of everyone rather than keeping them private; it was such a special way to include them in that moment.”
Darling Details
And the personal touches didn’t stop there. From olive picks and a napkin adorned with their 100-pound Bernadoodle (whose name is Tito, by the way) in a martini glass to a hidden Mickey on their cake, every single detail was perfectly Haley and Brant.
“Twelve30 did the most amazing job capturing Tito’s personality, even making sure he looked like he was spilling out of the glass since he’s such a big boy!”
And the bride wasn’t the only one with a final say. “Brant was incredibly involved in the details, which was so fun to see. He has such an eye for the finer touches, and it made the whole process even more special to experience together.”
They also incorporated their love for travel by replacing a traditional guest book with postcards from different destinations. “It was so special to see which places our guests chose and to read the sweet, funny notes they left us.”
And we haven’t even mentioned their ski attire rehearsal dinner or their James Bond-themed after party, complete with an ice sculpture luge, an Alabama shaker getaway (roll tide), and matching fur for all the bridesmaids. To say we’re obsessed with the attention to detail is an understatement.
Greatest Snow on Earth
Planning a Park City winter destination wedding is no easy feat, and it’s all thanks to their amazing vendors, whose magic brought their perfect Aprés ski wedding to life.
“We truly had the best experience with our planner, Billie Jo, and the entire Duet team. They made everything feel seamless, and every single vendor we worked with was phenomenal. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better team to bring our vision to life.”
And that’s not the end of it; Haley and Brant loved every single one of the vendors who were a part of their wedding. “In complete honesty, we wouldn’t have changed a single vendor we worked with. Every one of them went above and beyond, showing incredible patience and care while making our day truly unforgettable.”
For a wedding with such unique and intentional details, Haley’s biggest advice is to follow in her footsteps. “Focus on the details and personal touches; they’re often the highlights of the day for both you and your guests. It’s almost like a little game of hide and seek, where each thoughtful element reveals another glimpse into your love story. Those intentional touches are what make the celebration feel uniquely yours.”
With a tagline like ‘The Greatest Snow on Earth,’ it’s no wonder that a Park City winter destination wedding in Utah turned out as spectacular as this one. Don’t mind us, we’ll be heading out to the slopes wrapped in a fashionable fur coat, you know, just because. See you there.
