I’m In My Bridal Ballgown Era

Big dresses are back, and we’re not complaining. From basque waists to transitional dresses, and fancy veils to top it all off, the 2025 bridal trends we’re seeing are absolutely to die for. Take it from Tatum at Frankie Jane Couture Bridal, one of our favorite Utah bridal shops, the best in modern bridal fashion is headed to Utah this year.

“We’re seeing a lot of ball gowns, the fuller the better. I think everyone’s really embracing more volume, and not even just A-line, but a true ball gown.” In general, it’s the fuller skirts we’re seeing a lot of, and we’re beyond excited about seeing more. Who doesn’t love a fancy full-out moment? Take this gorgeous piece from Frankie Jane, how could you not swoon at all that drama?

Taste in Basque Waists

But more than just big bridal gowns, we’re seeing elaborate ways to class it up even more. “The basque waist and the drop waist—everyone’s pinning that. Everyone’s asking for it.” And can you blame us? We can’t get enough of those gorgeous, vintage-looking waistlines. This one is the perfect example of such an elegant look!

“People are embracing different textures as well. Not as much beading, but really beautiful laces, jacquard, embossed fabrics.” The only thing better than a big ball gown is a big, textured ball gown! This bride takes classy to a whole new level with that jaw-dropping jacquard. Who wouldn’t want everyone’s jaws on the floor as they walk down the aisle?

If all 2025 bridal trends are anything like this stunning beauty, we could be swooning at every gown. Oh wait, we already do.

Long-Sleeve Wedding Dresses for a Timeless Bride

And what each of these big trends has in common is that they’ll be beautiful forever. “I think we’re really going into more timeless looks now. You saw it with Olivia Culpo—she did that high-neck, long-sleeve look. We’re going back to Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly, a very traditional bride.”

The long-sleeve lace 2025 bridal trend is something we’re eating right up. This stunning lace number simply left no crumbs. It may or may not have left us teary-eyed at how stunning it is though. And not only are sleeves stunning, but they’re useful as well.

“Everybody’s loving the huge sleeves, and also just purposeful sleeves. They’re down for a long sleeve. They’re down for a puff sleeve. We have specific brides who need a sleeve, but I’m seeing it with everyone—loving sleeves.”

It’s us, we’re everybody.

Tatum loves the long-sleeved lace almost as much as we do. “I think it’s so delicate. A lot of the laces we’ve been seeing are less beaded and more like a really beautiful French chantilly lace or something that has some character to it—kind of leaning back into that classic bridal look.”

Classic Veils, Classic Bride

And what’s more classic-modern bride than a gorgeous veil? “I think it’s really bleeding into true bride moments. Big veils are a big trend. A blusher that comes in front of your face, or the mantilla veil where the lace goes on the top—I’m seeing a lot of brides wanting to embrace it. I feel like veils were out for a second. Now they’re so in. Brides want the drama of the veil.”

Veils are in, and we are invested. The 2025 bridal trends brought back veils in the best way!

“We have a lace veil that I’m just in love with. So I personally pull it a lot, but I just think it adds so much. Because our brides still love a beautiful classic gown, a simple gown, it doesn’t have any embroidery or lace or anything on it. And when you add that veil to it, it just changes the look.”

“We have a really cute veil that just has a linen trim, very classic. But we’ve been adding that blusher, and I think everyone’s starting to fall in love with that. We add a blusher to 90% of our veils now.”

And it all comes back to embracing the classic bridal look. Brides are saying, “I want my bridal era—I want to be walking down to ‘Here Comes the Bride.’” Everyone is loving the vintage cakes, the classic lace, and the film photography.

“We’re leaning into that era where everything was very nostalgic. A lot of brides will bring Priscilla Presley in as inspo, even a little bit of Kate Winslet. We still get the Hailey Biebers, but I feel like it’s definitely more of those grand, traditional brides.”

Embrace the Drama with Frankie Jane Couture

Another one of Tatum’s favorites—and ours, undoubtedly, is the scarf and neck accessory trend. “We have this really beautiful, chunky pearl choker and brides are just going crazy over it. I think that’s a big trend that we’ll be seeing, is more and more pieces on your neck that just add such an elegance to you.”

“And then the neck scarf—girls can’t get over the neck scarf. It’s so beautiful and flowy and transitional. It adds a lot of drama.”

Speaking of transitional, who doesn’t love a transitional dress? “We’re seeing a lot of minis that have a full dress. Underneath is a mini, and on top is a big, massive skirt. Or the skirt can change into a mini.”

Why get two dresses when you can fall in love with a two-in-one dress? This is the perfect day-to-night dress that we dream about, day and night.

“The biggest thing is just embracing the drama.” You only get married once in your life, so why not lean into it? “Brides are going all out!”

Take this amazing gown with detached sleeves, who wouldn’t want that look to compliment you during your I do?
