WE LOVE WHEN A STYLED SHOOT BRINGS A MIX OF CLASSIC AND CONTEMPORARY, LIKE THIS OFFERING FROM PHOTOGRAPHER TAYNEE MILLER AND FLORIST ASHLEY LEGG OF URBAN ROOTS FLORAL.
“We wanted something that exuded timeless elegance and romantic charm with the ever popular blue coming into play,” Taynee explains.
The venue, Sleepy Ridge, provided a classic backdrop with its vaulted ceilings, grand fireplace, and natural light. And the lush floral installation gave things a romantic garden party aura.
Then, the hues of blue brought the interest and intrigue. Taynee and Ashley paired the color with soft shades of peach and pink to really set the look on fire!
“The combination warms the ambiance while creating a captivating contrast that makes every color burst to life,” Ashley explains.
TAKE A SEAT The sweetheart table incorporated gold accents, flowing fabrics, and abundant blooms.
It’s the perfect spot to be enveloped in a little cocoon of love while still part of the party at large.
CAKE We love this two-tiered stunner that includes stenciled buttercream, edible gold leaf, and fresh-cut florals to boot.
BOLT OF BLUE To an unskilled florist, adding blue can be a challenge, but the pros know how far a little thistle and delphinium can go. Pro tips for you blue-loving brides out there, ask your florist about incorporating Eryngium! It packs a colorful punch and the texture is top tier.
FINE FOLIAGE With such a grand installation on the fireplace, Ashley knew the bouquet needed to hold its own in terms of size and style. The freeform style matched the garden party theme and the colors were set off splendidly by the crisp white gown.
KEEP IT MOVING Natalie Wynn created this ethereal gown specifically for the shoot. The lightweight fabric choice gave the dress a sense of movement and shimmer that comes through gorgeously in every image. Some gowns shine in still portraits, but this one was meant to be danced and dipped in.
GET THE PICTURE Photographing weddings is all about documenting the couple, their love story, and showcasing the beautiful details of the celebration.
For Taynee, photographing this styled shoot was no different! She focused on capturing the couple’s genuine love through playful and candid moments.
The only moment that was meticulously styled was the shot of the bride ensconced in flowers. “I had the bride lay down and had four florists arrange huge floral displays around her head,” Taynee says.
“Then I grabbed a tall ladder!” Worth the trouble?
Yessss.
THE SWING OF THINGS What is more fun and whimsical than a flower-adorned swing? This creation (made by Ashley‘s husband and father-in-law) is dual purpose — it’s a perfect photo opp, and then the swing can be removed to become a ceremony arch. Playful and practical!
