The Johnson Family: Crafting a Magical Wedding Venue

Nestled in the heart of Utah Valley, The Wild Oak is more than just the perfect wedding venue—it’s a labor of love crafted by the Johnson family, who share a passion for creating magical, memorable experiences straight out of a storybook.

The Johnson family has poured their heart into every detail of The Wild Oak, making it one of the most unique wedding venues in Utah. From hand-building the venue’s stone walls to providing floral arrangements, every inch of this European-inspired wedding venue has been lovingly crafted by the family.

“We knew that if we’re going to do it, we’re going to do as much as we can ourselves. For our stone wall in the back, my mom and a few of us completely did that ourselves—cut the stone, laid it. We laid the sod. We planted all the vines. The majority of it, we did it ourselves.”

From their mom to each of the sisters, and even their gardening dad and hard-working brothers, each of them had a part in building The Wild Oak with love. And according to the Johnsons, it’s more than just a venue. It’s an experience.

There’s No Place Like Home

At The Wild Oak, weddings aren’t just events—they’re personal, intimate celebrations where the venue itself feels like home. With breathtaking views of the majestic Mount Timpanogos and a design inspired by the romance of Italy, The Wild Oak offers a one-of-a-kind setting that feels like a storybook escape, right here in Utah.

“Everything was touched by us, created by us, it was all our ideas. So when brides come, it’s really important to us, because it really is like our home and we love it so much. We want you to have this experiential wedding.”

Their warm, welcoming atmosphere combined with the venue’s stunning surroundings makes The Wild Oak the perfect place for brides and grooms to say “I do” in style. Especially if that style involves a European-inspired backdrop at a Utah Valley wedding venue.

A European Getaway in Utah Valley

“We love to put little details in there, it’s all thought out and very specific to our style and what we love. The lounge is very eclectic and colorful, and it’s very modern European.” One look at their gorgeous grapevine trellis—yes, those are real grapevines—and you’ll fall in love with their romantic, picturesque setup.

“We love Italy, so that’s kind of the inspiration. We really wanted people to escape while still being in Utah. Our tagline is, ‘Escape the mundane and hide away with us.’ We’re tucked back into a place that you wouldn’t think a unique wedding venue would be. It’s very well thought out, it’s very detail-oriented, and it can accommodate all different styles.”

“Every time you go to the trellis, and you can just hear the breeze in the trees and you look up and see grapes coming through, you’re just like, ‘Oh my gosh, where have I escaped to?’ It’s magic. I feel like I’ve gone through a storybook and I’m not in Utah.”

Even their gardens are enough to make you feel like you’ve fallen into the pages of a fairytale, or blown away in a tornado. Toto, we’re not in Utah anymore—except, we are!

A Venue Built with Love for Every Couple

Mr. Johnson himself can’t stay away. “The funny thing about my husband is that he just loves this property so much. When I was raising kids, he didn’t do any yard work at all, but every day you can catch him before work, cutting and clipping his roses. He is so into this property.”

Not only is The Wild Oak loved by the whole Johnson family but it’s loved by generations of them. “We’re a family-run business. The girls all bring their little kids in the morning when we set up, and the little kids run around the property like it’s their home. They love hanging out there.”

“The people that come in the morning, the brides, they get this smile on their face to see that we really love what we do. We love our place and we love our family and you can feel that.”

One of the sisters went into labor while she was building the firepit outside—and five years later, that very baby is the one who sets up the candles for every wedding. And she loves it.

The Wild Oak is a breathtaking oasis that perfectly marries romantic charm with modern elegance. Whether the romance of the property draws you in, the handcrafted details in every corner, or the loving care of its owners, The Wild Oak promises a wedding day experience that’s as unforgettable as it is unique. All it takes is one look to see for yourself!

What are you waiting for? Escape the ordinary and find yourself in a hidden gem that’s truly a world apart, right here in the heart of Utah Valley.
