Scarlet + Scott

Date
Aug, 26, 2019

It’s Magazine Monday! And today we have a closer look at the wedding of Scarlet and Scott — straight from our glossy pages. And just FYI — these two are bursting with charm and good taste.

RHAPSODY IN BLUE // 3.4.18

When I first met my husband, I was blown away by his kind eyes. I could tell he was a good guy. We started dating, and he proved that to me over and over again.

One of my favorite dates was when he celebrated my love of tacos on Cinco De Mayo by surprising me with a pinata, sombreros, and tacos, of course.

Scott’s proposal took me completely by surprise. He told me we were going ice skating, so I dressed down and my hair was a mess. When he picked me up, he looked so handsome. After “waiting for some friends” (Editor’s Note: ladies, excessive stalling and phone checking means the proposal is near), we went to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. When we got inside I looked out the window and saw a huge sign that said “Scarlet, Will You Marry Me?” Then I turned around and saw both of our families.

Our families were a big part of our wedding day, too. Scott’s family has a wedding tradition of a surprise skit for the couple. For ours, they dressed up as a Scottish couple (a nod to my resemblance to Merida from the movie “Brave”) and sang a song they wrote about us. It was hilarious! Another special part of our wedding was that Scott’s nephew with special needs was his best man.

Our wedding had touches of blue from my nail polish (I always wear blue nail polish and my wedding wasn’t going to be any different) to Scott’s blue suit and the striking blue layer on our wedding cake by Flour & Flourish. I loved it!

My favorite part of the day was being in the moment. It was a day I had been dreaming of forever and I tried to soak it all in.

Scarlet’s soiree was dripping in breathtaking blooms and gorgeous greenery. Her wedding MVP was her florist, Marianne Seale, of Bushel and A Peck Floral Design. “My flowers were unreal and, without question, my favorite wedding element,” Scarlet says. We also adore her paper suite (that temple watercolor!) and her “something blues” — from the cake to Scott’s suit to Scarlet’s nails. And can we talk about that killer Alta Moda Bridal gown with peachy undertones? What a perfect complement to Scarlet’s wild and wondrous red hair. It may have rained on their wedding day, but nothing could put a damper on those stunning smiles and lovely love.
