Abby and Jordan were connected by an invisible string long before they had ever met. In 2019, Abby had moved to New York and was out with a friend who insisted on seeing Abby’s Hinge profile; and there was Jordan, someone Abby’s friend knew and who was, like Abby, from South Florida. They went out and hit it off before realizing months later that both of their parents had known each other years before.
“There’s a picture of our moms together from a bachelorette party they were on in the 80s or 90s. Really crazy that it took Hinge to get us together, and we actually grew up 45 minutes away from each other, which is insane that we ended up meeting in New York.”
All along, there was an invisible string connecting them before they fell in love and got married in the beautiful mountains of Park City, Utah.
Abby grew up skiing in Deer Valley with her family, which ultimately influenced their decision to get married at River Bottoms Ranch.
“We have always loved going up to the mountains and spending our time there. We loved how fun and nice and warm and inviting it is, and we didn’t want the biggest wedding ever. So we thought it would be a nice destination. We wanted everyone to feel like we were at a camp together, so it was perfect.”
After getting engaged at home on a Florida beach, they jumped into wedding planning. Abby embraced natural colors and floral patterns when she began designing their elegant mountain celebration.
Natural Elegance
“Jordan and I wanted our wedding to feel warm and inviting. River Bottoms Ranch, with its mountains, water, and natural textures, gave us the perfect backdrop, and we wanted it to feel like the setting and the venue were one. It was about creating an atmosphere that felt natural, warm, textured, and flowy, something that reflected both the beauty of the setting and the way we wanted the weekend to feel.”
“We leaned into soft linens, wood accents, and textured paper goods to bring that vision to life. Rather than bold patterns, we focused on layering natural elements that felt organic and effortless.”
One of the challenging parts about planning a destination wedding is handling the logistics from far away, but thanks to their planner, it was a breeze.
“We were so grateful to have our planner, Shellie Ferrer, guiding us through every step and helping to make the process feel seamless. What could have felt overwhelming instead felt exciting, because we had such great support. In the end, having our wedding in Park City was a dream, and we were touched by how enthusiastic everyone was to help bring it to life.”
Floral Accents and Highlights
Abby and her wedding planner started with the colors white and green and built the design elements on those, but it didn’t stop there.
“I always knew I wanted light and airy white and green, and some texture with it. I saw a photo of allium, which is the purple flower that was incorporated into the ceremony, and when I saw those flowers, I knew that’s what I had to do. It’s perfect. And also seasonal. So I just felt like it brought some level of dimension into the green and white, whereas everything else was green and white. I felt like it tied it together.”
And they’re native to Utah’s beautiful landscapes that we all know and love.
Abby and Jordan’s wedding florals were more than just stunning; they were absolutely jaw-dropping. “Discussing my vision with our florist and then seeing the floral trial come to life was such a highlight. It felt like the first time I could see all the ideas in my head start to become real. Working with Twelve30 Creative on design details was amazing; they helped me see how everything would tie together and made the process feel exciting rather than overwhelming.”
Abby’s soft white and airy green floral inspiration carried throughout the rest of the day. From the aisle markers to their dinnerware, every detail was curated to match Abby’s vision of natural elegance, reinforced perfectly with Utah’s natural beauty, to allow their love to be the spotlight.
“A priority for me was the continuity of the different elements. I wanted everything to feel like one. I wanted it to feel not overly done, but still simple enough that no one else would notice it. I was very hands-on on that. The overall look and feel, and the flowers and paper goods, tied for top priority.”
Joining Two Families Together
Abby and Jordan’s other biggest priority for their wedding was making sure that their guests had a great weekend celebrating their love story with them.
“From a design perspective, we wanted every guest to feel included in the celebration. We created branding that carried across both our welcome party and the wedding itself, from custom matchbooks to napkins and floral-inspired details. Every guest received a welcome bag in a custom tote that read “With love, from Park City,” filled with snacks we love. We loved that the totes could be reused, making them both personal and sustainable. For the wedding itself, we also had playful touches like flower pot escort cards to guide guests to their tables.”
But the small details all focused on one thing: their experience.
“Because no one is from Utah, and we had everyone flying from New York, California, Florida, the biggest thing for me was making sure everyone who was flying in for us was going to have a fun time. As special as it was for me and Jordan, I wanted to make it feel special for everyone else. Everything went into the guest experience, and making it enjoyable and not stressful once they’re there.”
Incorporating Jewish Tradition
Abby and Jordan also incorporated Jewish traditions into their ceremony, celebrating that marriage is about more than the joining of two people; it’s about the joining of two families.
“We began with sentimental elements that honored both tradition and our loved ones who had passed. My grandpa’s tallit, a Jewish prayer shawl worn during services, was draped above us on the chuppah, the wedding canopy symbolizing the home you build together, and Jordan’s maternal grandmother’s kiddush cup, a ceremonial cup used to bless wine on Shabbat and holidays, was used during the blessings.”
“Alongside it, we introduced a new kiddush cup to symbolize the new life we are starting together. These pieces grounded us in family history while also pointing to our future.”
Saying I do under something that symbolizes the home you build together? We’re getting emotional. It’s okay if you need to wipe a few tears after reading about those details; we know we are.
Sentimental and Fun Favorite Moments
Everyone loves a good ceremony, but for Abby, her favorite part of the day was the moment right after I do.
“I loved the vows. I’m such an emotional person, and neither of us thought we’d be able to get through the vows, and we did. But right after the ceremony, we went up to the bridal suite. We couldn’t stop laughing and saying, ‘I can’t believe we’re married!’ I had disposable cameras in the bridal room, and we snapped a photo to commemorate that moment; it’s one of my favorites. We were up there for a few minutes, and it was just so surreal. Being alone, it was very quiet, and it was really fun.”
Here’s your reminder to plan a moment alone with your new spouse right after your ceremony to soak it all in!
But beyond that, there’s another favorite moment of Abby’s that we’re arguably even more obsessed with: her father’s moment in the spotlight.
“My dad went up on stage, just crazy, and did a performance with the band. Our whole entire family ended up going on stage, Jordan and I, my siblings, my mom, Jordan’s parents, and his siblings; it was really fun and energetic. That was definitely my favorite part of the party and reception.”
All you can ever hope for at your wedding reception is a party, and Abby and Jordan’s families absolutely embraced the fun!
Western Chic Rehearsal Dinner Details
The fun didn’t begin and end with their wedding day; the night before, they had the ultimate western chic rehearsal dinner of our Pinterest board dreams. Where the wedding day focused on natural elegance, the welcome party was all about homey coziness.
“I wanted a warm, neutral kind of energy. We ended up doing a western chic theme, which a lot of our guests didn’t know how to dress for at first, but it ended up looking really good. I brought in more neutral browns, some reds. And our linens on the table were burlap, and the napkins were red gingham. So it really ended up tying everything together.”
Whereas the venue at River Bottoms Ranch feels light and airy, Abby loved that the rustic wood floor of their rehearsal dinner with the mountainous backdrop brought that cozy yet chic feel to life perfectly.
Make It Yours
Abby’s biggest advice to couples is to just do what you want. It’s your wedding!
“When you’re getting married, there’s a lot of other weddings that you’re going to, and you see whatever everyone else is doing. If you don’t want to do it, don’t do it. You can make it fun in your own right. You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing, but you can take what everyone else is doing and make it your own.”
Abby and Jordan absolutely took that advice and made it evident in the way their perfect wedding day came together! It was beautifully them, and so gorgeous we’ll be incorporating natural elegance and western chic into our daily style inspo.
Not only did their ceremony incorporate meaningful family heirlooms, but it was a physical representation of the generations of love and tradition woven into every detail of the day. From the tallit to the table linens, Abby and Jordan’s wedding perfectly captured the most important part of their day: their love story that was woven together long before they even knew it.
