It’s Magazine Monday! And today we have a closer look at the delightful and divine wedding of Katie and Nick from our 2021 glossy pages. Don’t miss it!

Katie Karlson and Nick Vadasz bonded over life’s most important necessities: CrossFit and donuts. “We met at a CrossFit gym in New York City,” Katie says. “We were friends for more than six months before our first date. Our first impressions of each other are from sweaty workouts! It might not be the most romantic, but it was the foundation for a great future together.” When they weren’t doing Burpees, they connected over their love of donuts. And when it came time to propose, that love came full circle. “Nick planned the most romantic day, starting with a pancake breakfast at home,” Katie says. “From there, he surprised me with a massage, then we snowshoed on Rob’s Trail in Park City. Nick proposed at the top of the trail, overlooking the most gorgeous views. He actually proposed with a donut ring at first! It was perfect.”

With a ring and an ever-changing date, Nick and Katie worked with the team at Over The Top Events to navigate planning a wedding in a pandemic. “Alex was a gem to work with,” Katie says. “Throughout the rollercoaster of planning a pandemic wedding, she brought the energy and positivity needed to keep us sane — all while helping us change our plans countless times.” The East Coast couple couldn’t wait to show their guests Utah’s epic scenery — and River Bottoms Ranch was just the place to do it. “The views! It was the perfect backdrop and added such a special element to our wedding,” Katie says.

Heidi at Over The Top Events set the scene with petal after perfect petal. From the grand staircase to the ceremony display, flowers were in full bright bloom. Revved and ready, Nick made an unforgettable entrance — via motorcycle! “It was one of my most favorite moments!” Katie says. “We also wrote our own vows, which made the ceremony extra meaningful.”

Family was at the heart of it all. Katie’s “something borrowed” was a diamond bracelet from her late great aunt. And she also wore pearls, which belonged to Nick’s grandmother. “Nick’s mom gave them to me, and it was a really special moment because it felt like I was being fully welcomed as a member of their family,” Katie says. “Our wedding wouldn’t have been what it was without our families.” The New York couple now lives in Park City, home of their proposal past and forever future.

Katie and Nick’s River Bottoms Ranch wedding began with inviting invitations. “Elizabeth at Eccentricity is an incredible artist who did the paper suite for our wedding, along with custom embroidered masks for all our guests.” Before the ceremony, Katie and her bridesmaids donned matching floral PJs, and then Katie changed into her lace loveliness from Mary’s Bridal. Meanwhile, Nick kept things sweet with pink donut cufflinks and donut-printed socks.

Over The Top Events planted divine details everywhere. From the ceremony flowers (those pink plumes!) to the watercolor cake to the champagne flute seating chart, playful elegance abounded. “Tactically, the Covid adjustments were easy for us,” Katie says. “Our venue, caterer, and vendors were all incredibly professional and had plans in place to make our wedding as safe as possible, given the circumstances. From hand-sanitizing stations to mask-wearing to socially distanced tables to a dedicated employee wiping down surfaces throughout the event, our vendors left no stone unturned.”
