Elise + Kyle

Date
Jul, 26, 2021

It’s Magazine Monday! And today we have a closer look at the EPIC wedding celebration of Elise and Kyle from our 2021 glossy pages. Truly — this is like four weddings in one, people! Scroll your heart out.

Elise Ellison and Kyle Rooney’s summer wedding was deeply meaningful and mesmerizingly beautiful. The couple met through mutual friends and got engaged in the stunning slot canyons of Lake Powell. Their summer wedding was full of Persian culture (Kyle’s mother is Persian) —from the exchange of honey to the sprinkling of sugar over the bride and groom to “offer sweetness to their marriage.” “Our Persian ceremony was one of the most joyful and spiritual moments of our wedding,” she says.

The admittedly sentimental bride loved having her mother make her bouquet and wearing two veils — one made by her mother and the other gifted from her grandmother. “I loved wearing pieces that were given to me by the powerful women in my life,” Elise says.

Elise’s background as a model and a former Miss Utah USA influenced her wedding day style. “It taught me that I don’t have to do what everyone else is doing, and it gave me the courage to do so many fun things on our wedding,” Elise says. And, oh, the fun she had.

First up are the his-and-her suited bridals, complete with a veil. *chefskiss* At the Persian ceremony, Elise’s simple, silky dress was magical and memorable. She wore a traditional wedding gown for the LDS temple ceremony and for her backyard reception. But it was traditional with a twist — or knot, as the case may be. “My favorite part was the high-neck that tied into a draping knot in the back,” Elise says of her elevated and elegant frock from The Perfect Dress. For the glam finale? A custom bridal jumpsuit from Chantel Lauren Designs that Elise donned during a surprise “Mamma Mia” performance with her sisters. “Chantel made my vision come to life!” she says. “And singing ‘Super Trouper’ has been a fun dream of mine for so long.”

Kyle’s one request for the big day? Everyone jumping in the pool! “Kyle knew we had prepped the bridal party,” Elise says. “But then everyone got in — even our parents and grandma!”

// STUDIO BRIDALS // “His and her” suited formals? We do, we do, we do.

// PERSIAN CEREMONY // The Persian ceremony took place the day before their wedding day. The couple knelt together in front of symbolic emblems to exchange rings and promises, and Elise’s incredible veil for the Persian ceremony was made by her mother. The couple grew up in California and now live in Pleasant Grove.

// SAILBOAT VOWS // Kyle and Elise shared private vows on a sailboat at the Great Salt Lake as their parents looked on. “The captain let us sail the boat, which is such a great memory!” she says.

// LDS SEALING // Elise + Kyle were wed in the Draper LDS Temple.

// RECEPTION + MAMMA MIA PERFORMANCE // The reception was held in Elise’s parents’ backyard, with dreamy details like hanging florals over the pool and a grass wall branded with their initials. The food had Middle Eastern flair. Elise’s favorite was the homemade fig tapenade with goat cheese, while the cake was an orange rosemary wonder with buttermilk frosting. And as if they couldn’t be any more epic, the celebration ended with a “Mamma Mia” performance and a splash in the pool.
