On the day of her 21st birthday, Kadee got the best birthday present she could have ever wished for; she met her future husband. After a first date swing dancing and Koby telling her, “You and me together is just a good idea,” Koby eventually popped the question in the place they would call home.
“We had just bought a fixer-upper house together, knowing it would be our future home after we got married, and Koby had spent a few days painting some of the rooms and deep cleaning. We decided to go to the house and take a look at the progress. I often film our adventures or random moments for memory’s sake, and knowing this, Koby set up the phone to film and asked me to summarize the progress on the house.”
“I didn’t think much of it, but after I had given my summary of the paint, clean carpets, and new rug, Koby got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, all caught on camera! It was super sweet to get engaged in the place we knew would be home.”
Sparkling Chandeliers
One of Kadee’s top priorities as she jumped into wedding planning was the decor; if you’re looking for unique wedding ideas, start here. Between the 11-foot chandelier and stunning hand-made florals, we’d say she got her dream come true.
“My top priority was the decor; I had dreamed for years about what I wanted my wedding to look like, and every detail was planned out, from the giant chandelier I purchased to have hung in the venue to the wedding day newspaper we designed to be handed out the day of.”
And during the planning process, Kadee used it as an opportunity to spend time with her mom and sisters, a highlight of the whole experience for her.
“Wedding planning was the most fun I’ve ever had! My mom is my best friend ever, and we spent months planning; every weekend I would drive to my mom’s house. One weekend, we visited four different Hobby Lobby stores trying to buy all the candles I needed. Another weekend, we drove from store to store collecting all the mini Martinelli’s for my reception. Another weekend was spent taste testing the cream puffs I had wanted to serve at the reception. We did this weekend ritual for months, and together, my mom and I filmed every portion of the planning on my phone.”
Building White Wedding Florals
We’ll be waiting on the edge of our seats for her BTS wedding planning video! But the family fun didn’t stop there; her other main priority was to fully enjoy the wedding planning process.
“I wanted to incorporate my family into the planning where I could, and it ended up being some of the most special memories we have together. I’m a triplet, and my triplet sister has a knack for florals, so we decided to do all of the centerpieces, wedding party flowers, and a few highlight arrangements for the ceremony all by ourselves. The night before my wedding was so much fun because we spent hours putting together the floral arrangements for my wedding. The kitchen floor was covered in white roses, carnations, and baby’s breath!”
Does it count as a mess if it’s made up of gorgeous wedding flowers?
And the flower power didn’t even start the day before the wedding day; Kadee and her family and friends had a whole day of test-running the wedding day centerpieces.
“I had ordered a bunch of flowers in advance and wanted to make a mock-up so we knew what we were doing for the real thing. We had friends come over, along with my mom and sisters, and the kitchen table was covered in chicken wire, flowers, zip ties, and treats as we tried to add flowers to the clear, tall centerpieces I had ordered. It was a tedious process, but it set us up for success when making arrangements the night before.”
Glittering Gowns
But wait, there’s more; not only was wedding planning a dream for Kadee, but finding her wedding dress and reception dress was even more of a dream come true. Let’s be real, with sparkles like that, how could you not say yes to that dress?
“Wedding dress shopping was super fun. I had already purchased a dress second-hand that I loved and wanted to use for a dance party dress, but I wanted to go look for another dress to use for the rest of the day. I wanted the dress to be a surprise for everyone, so I only went dress shopping with my mom. We took a trip to Alta Moda, and I tried on a few different dresses before finding the one I loved. I ended up with an Eva Lendel, fully beaded gown with a detachable beaded overskirt.”
The beaded chandeliers have nothing on this glittering bride! But the reception dress had even more of a fun surprise.
“Another highlight was fixing up my dance party dress. That gown was covered completely in glitter, but I wanted to add some feathers. My mom took the time to add feather sleeves to my gown two days before my wedding, and it’s a special detail I’ll always remember!”
It’s a detail we’ll always remember too, pinned on every single one of our inspo boards from here on out. As far as unconventional wedding ideas go, we’ll happily add feathers to the list.
Unique, Unconventional, Undeniably Gorgeous
But let’s bring it back to those chandeliers, including the 11-foot one in the middle of their venue, Kadee and Koby had nine different beaded chandeliers in all for their wedding. It was the start of what Kadee describes as “classy and timeless with lots of elegance and glamour.” They even rented a baby grand piano for their reception.
“The main chandelier, fully beaded, is six feet wide by 11 feet tall and was breathtaking in the middle of Siempre’s Forever room. We had eight smaller chandeliers, about four feet long each, around the room, and I kept all of them, hoping to install them in a future home. Another major portion that added to the glamour theme/style was the beautiful venue. Anyone who has ever been to Siempre knows how breathtaking it is, and from the moment I toured the venue, I knew that’s where I wanted to host the events of the day!”
We’re just hoping to get a tour of Kadee’s future home to get another glimpse at those stunning chandeliers.
Wedding Day Moments
When it came to the wedding day itself, every detail was perfect, from the sparkling ceiling to the sparkling bride. And it was full of more special family moments.
“My sister is a talented makeup artist, and my mom is a cosmetologist, so they helped me get ready that morning. We headed over to the venue that morning to get everything set up. I put on my main dress and did a quick reveal with all of my bridesmaids; the photos from that moment are so special and fun!”
Looking back, her bridesmaid dress reveal was one of Kadee’s favorite moments from her wedding day. “I’m so glad I did a grand dress reveal with my bridesmaids and sisters. Keeping the dress a secret from my triplet sister was tough, but it made the first look so special. I love surprises, so it was fun for me.”
After her first look with Koby, they headed to the Draper, Utah LDS Temple for a sealing, and then came back to continue the sparkling celebration, complete with a ring ceremony and a cream puff tower.
“After the ceremony, we had a dinner with our closest family and friends; my triplet siblings and a few other family members made speeches during this event, which was so special for us. I had also spent weeks writing a poem to recite during this dinner that I wrote specifically for Koby. It was fun to read the poem for everyone, and it’s something I’ll always remember.”
There really isn’t anything more special than a love poem for your brand new husband!
Plan Something You’ll Always Remember
Kadee and Koby ended the night with a feather-tastic dance party and a magical send-off that we’ll be dreaming of almost as much as those chandeliers.
From a bride who had the wedding planning experience of her dreams, Kadee says to embrace wedding planning wholeheartedly.
“People always say that ‘it’s only one day,’ but it’s such an important and special day. Include all the details you want, really have fun with the planning, and take the time to plan something you’ll always remember.”
And if you want to make it even more memorable with a few of your own unique wedding ideas, don’t forget to include a cream puff tower, a hand-written love poem, and no less than nine chandeliers!
