Brynley + Donny

Date
May, 03, 2021

It’s Magazine Monday! And today we have a closer look at the winsome wedding of cover bride Brynley Arnold. It’s a showstopper, friends. Slow. That. Scroll.

When Provo’s Brynley Arnold married Huntington Beach’s Donny McGinnis, they danced the night away as the sky exploded with confetti cannons and California dreams. But let’s take it from the top, shall we? The couple’s dance with destiny began with CrossFit and some good-old-fashioned sit-up stalling. “We met at a gym where Donny and my parents both work out,” Brynley says. “My mom told me I needed to meet this boy, and one morning we did extra sit-ups waiting for him to show up!” Their first impressions? Too hilarious. “I thought he was too hot and too old for me, and Donny thought I was too good for him. But look at us now!” she laughs.

Once they knew they were perfect for each other, they made it official. With the help of Brynley’s sisters, Donny proposed by sending her on a scavenger hunt around town to collect roses and clues that celebrated the momentous moments of their relationship. Brynley started at CrossFit and ended at Sundance — where Donny was waiting with a ring in his hand and his heart on his sleeve. “I had zero idea this was going to happen, and I cried so much,” Brynley says. (Editor’s Note: You can watch the sweet proposal on the Arnold Sisters’ YouTube channel!)

Planning a wedding during Covid came with the expected ups, downs and delays. But the couple ultimately settled on a fall wedding in sunny California at an estate in Temecula. Brynley found her dream seams at Pritchétt Bridal, which were sleek, elegant and unforgettable. Then she took it next level with her swoon-worthy pearl veil and earrings.

The couple’s families were the MVPs of wedding planning — “My mom is a rockstar!” Brynley says. They were married in the San Diego LDS Temple and then later had a ring ceremony and reception for a small group of family and friends. “Our venue was wonderful because it was secluded from the city and so intimate — perfect for our limited guest count,” she says.

Dancing with her new husband was Brynley’s all-time favorite moment. Then they left the party while loved ones showered them with love, confetti, and balloons. “I just want to cry happy tears,” she says. “Best day of our lives.”

Before the wedding day, Brynley and Donny took their “first look” and formals on a California cliffside. After waking up early to get her hair and makeup done by Kali Chris in Utah, Brynley, Donny, and her mom flew to California — with her bouquet as a carry-on! Photographer Katie Byrd perfectly captured the glamorous couple with beauty and heart. Brynley is a dancer, model, and a registered ER nurse, while Donny is a marketing manager at a local solar company. The newlyweds live in Pleasant Grove.

Dance is in Brynley’s heart — and her genes. All her sisters are dancers, with the oldest two — Lindsay and Jensen — both competing on “So You Think You Can Dance” and Lindsay becoming a pro on “Dancing With the Stars.” Along with their youngest sister, Rylee, the four sisters host an Arnold Sisters’ YouTube channel sharing fun moments from their lives. Brynley’s wedding is certainly one of those shareable memories. Every detail from her white-and-green celebration bursted with beauty, joy, and all the right moves.
