A Sentimental River Bottoms Ranch Wedding

Date
Sep, 10, 2024

Allison Robbins + Andrew Wheeler 7.20.24

Allison and Andy met in 2020, at the height of very unexpected times, but the most unexpected thing for the both of them was finding each other. “We’re actually pretty grateful for that time because it was just the two of us and we got to know each other really really well.” Allison found that she and Andy had a lot of similar values, including prioritizing their relationships with both of their families.

Four years later, their love story continued in the beautiful fields of their Park City Utah wedding at River Bottoms Ranch.

Allison is originally from Seattle, and Andy is from South Texas, so Park City was the perfect halfway location for their wedding. Not only that, but Allison went to high school in Park City, which is how she knew it was the most beautiful place. “The Timpanogos is my favorite mountain range, so to get married in front of that was pretty spectacular.”

Deer Valley Wedding Celebrations With a Twist

The celebrations began at their welcome party the night before, in Deer Valley. With a Western theme and a live band, it was a tribute to Andy’s side of the family with their Texas roots—and to the place where they got engaged. They even had their favorite homemade Texas tamales flown in for the party. Who doesn’t love a Deer Valley wedding celebration with tamales?

The big wedding day started with an intimate moment with Allison’s bridesmaids and mom in her bridal suite at River Bottoms Ranch. “It was just so relaxing. The makeup and hair were so great—Diana Elizabeth Beauty and Britlyn from Goldy Hair were awesome.”

Not only was it so relaxing for her, but it ended up being one of her favorite moments. “My mom and my aunts coming into the bridal suite in the morning was really special.” For Allison, it was those small moments throughout the whole day that made it so incredible.

Coming Together In a Park City Utah Wedding

From the ceremony to the cocktail hour, and even into the dinner, Allison’s favorite part of all was seeing all of her closest friends and family. “It was so fun to see all of the people you envision together from different parts of your life sitting together and coming to life.”

“When we were sitting together at the head table and just kind of looking out at the dinner, and seeing all of our most favorite people in the world interacting and catching up, meeting each other maybe for the first time, that was probably my favorite moment. I was able to look around and see all those amazing people in one space. And we were so grateful that they were all able to join us.”

The wedding dinner, catered by Magelby’s and Top Shelf Utah, was a great moment for all of the speeches from Allison and Andy’s loved ones. “They were super special and included a lot of great anecdotes and a lot of similar themes.”

Allison is especially grateful for each of her vendors and the whole team that came together to bring her wedding day to life. “Pepper Nix was our photographer and she did a great job at keeping us relaxed and capturing us really authentically.”

Andy, who just so happens to be a DJ on the side, loved working with their wedding day DJ. “He worked quite a bit collaborating with our DJ Cooper Brown who was fantastic—so great, so professional. Cooper really did a fantastic job at facilitating the whole ceremony, making it seamless, and then going right into the dance party, which was awesome. I didn’t even get any dessert because I was too busy dancing!”

Utah’s Natural Beauty

Overall, the themes and colors that inspired Allison came from the gorgeous scenery of Utah. “I knew I wanted simple and classic, and highlighting as much of the natural beauty as possible.” There really isn’t a better place than Utah for a wedding in our opinion!

“I really loved that blue was our color, kind of like a sky blue and a sage green. And I thought our florist Lizy Bowden did a really nice job of interpreting the simplicity of the vision.”

When it comes to ceremony backdrops, our Utah landscapes are hard to beat. “I really didn’t want a big arch or anything. I just wanted the Timpanogos to be the focal point of our ceremony.” From behind, those mountains are the best possible backdrop for a Park City wedding.

Thanks to the wedding team at River Bottoms Ranch, and each of her vendors, her vision came to life. “I really leaned into the experience and the expertise of the team to help with that vision and I was just so happy with it.”

But the party didn’t end there—they kept it going all night long with an after-party that went on into the early hours of the morning! “Honestly, the after-party lasting until four in the morning was unexpected, and the best. It felt like that was the time that I could really slow down a bit and actually get to talk to people, and that was really fun. So that was unexpected—but great.”

Joining the Families

For Allison, it was about more than just her wedding. “It’s really also a day for the joining of the families.” It was important to her that her family had a lot of input to their big day, and that each of them was able to feel right at home. “Having those authentic touches like the tamales from South Texas, having it be in Park City, and the welcome party in Deer Valley, I feel that those unique aspects were great, and it really felt like us.”

After hearing about all the love Allison and Andy share with each other and their families, this wedding has us tearing up at the beauty of it all. And there’s no better or more beautiful place to celebrate that than at a Park City Utah wedding.
