Sweet Memories
Rebecca and Carson’s love story is filled with heart, humor, and a whirlwind romance that led to a Utah wedding day brimming with emotion and unexpected moments. The two met through Rebecca’s younger brother, and from the moment they connected, everything just clicked. “I think we just hit it off right from the beginning. He started treating me right, and I was so grateful.”
From there, the couple’s journey sped forward: ring shopping, a playful proposal (complete with Wii baseball), and a beautiful Utah wedding in August.
The proposal itself was a memorable and amusing fiasco. Rebecca’s dad accidentally spoiled the surprise, leaving her in tears, thinking the moment was ruined. But Carson flipped the script, playing along and delaying his proposal until later that night, after a friendly and competitive round of Wii baseball. “I was freaking out, but also winning.” When Carson finally did pop the question, it was perfect in its unpredictability, a theme that would continue throughout their wedding day.
Utah Wedding Priorities: Dress, Ring, Photographer
When it came to wedding planning, Rebecca had her top priorities straight: her dress, her ring, and her photographer. She was determined to find something that truly represented her. “I wanted a good dress,” she says simply, and she got it! The same went for her photographer and rings, both of which were carefully chosen to make the day feel uniquely hers.
And even more gorgeous details were their bridal photos taken in a gorgeous mansion. It’s giving East Coast glam, it’s giving old money. And we’ll be hanging them up on our walls because we’re so obsessed.
Rebecca and Carson’s Utah wedding was nothing short of a rollercoaster, complete with rain, forgotten clothes, and last-minute hiccups. The couple was married in the LDS Saratoga Springs, Utah Temple in the morning, with a gorgeous reception planned for later that day. But, as is often the case with weddings, the weather had other plans.
Rain is Good Luck On Your Wedding Day
Everyone knows how tricky Utah weather can be, but it’s also good luck to have rain on your wedding day. “It rained during our wedding dinner the night before, and it started to rain again before the reception. We started to pull everything back in, and then the sun came out. It was super nice because it wasn’t super hot during our reception.” Just like magic, the sun made a grand appearance at the perfect moment.
One thing that brightened Rebecca’s day, besides the weather, was an unexpected pick-me-up from Swig, a sweet gift from her friend. “Swig saved the day.” Doesn’t it always?
Another unexpected edible detail from their Utah wedding was their fun menu: hot dogs and sweet potato fries. They wanted their reception to have a family-friendly, laid-back vibe. “Who doesn’t love a hot dog and fries, right? I wanted something everyone would like.”
But the real showstopper of the night was Rebecca’s dance with her dad. “It wasn’t the typical daddy-daughter dance.” The two had practiced a choreographed routine just days before the wedding, and it quickly became a highlight of the night.
For Carson, it was special for him to see all of the love and support they received from their friends and family. “There were a lot of people who came from a long way away just to come for five or ten minutes and tell us congrats. For me, that meant a lot that people would travel so far to join us.”
Another favorite moment of theirs was their last dance of the evening. “After everyone left, we had one more dance on the dance floor, and it was just us.” We love a sweet moment alone between the bride and groom on their wedding day.
Unexpected Moments at This Utah Wedding
But, like any couple, there were a few last-minute details that slipped through the cracks. Carson had left the keys to his car at home, 40 minutes away from their LDS temple ceremony. And Rebecca forgot some honeymoon essentials, packing her skincare and sweatpants, but not brunch clothes for their post-wedding honeymoon meal in Park City. But in the end, it all worked out, and we’re left with these jaw-dropping photos to obsess over.
Carson says, “Obviously, plan out as much as you can, but the day of the wedding, if things aren’t working out how you planned, it’s totally okay to just go with the flow. At the end of the day, it’s still your wedding, so you do whatever you feel is best in the moment.”
If Rebecca and Carson have one piece of advice for couples planning their wedding, it’s this: “Hire a wedding planner! Maddie, our planner, did so much for us. Without her, we wouldn’t have had a wedding.” Carson agrees, emphasizing that having someone to handle the details and the mess-ups allowed them to enjoy their day without the added stress.
With a Utah wedding day full of unexpected moments, a heartwarming love story, and plenty of laughs along the way, Rebecca and Carson’s celebration was a true reflection of their joyful personalities. And really, who could ask for more than hot dogs, Swig, and one last dance?
