Tying the Knot With a Bow

This bow-tied July Utah wedding will have you finding as many ways as possible to incorporate bows into your wedding decor!

Madi and Landon’s love story began when they were eight years old. They lived down the street from each other, and their families grew close until Landon’s family moved an hour away. Luckily for them, their moms stayed close friends, and as soon as they were 16, they were all but forced to go on a date together.

Neither of them wanted to drive an hour away just for a date, but eventually they did, and the rest is history. They fell in love and dated all throughout high school, unsure of what the future held, but both ended up going to college in Utah.

Landon proposed to his high school sweetheart years after their first date, Madi’s only first date, two days before Christmas under a romantic string light setup.

They knew they wanted to get married in Utah, despite both of their families being from Arizona, but really, can you blame them? We may be a little biased, but we think Utah is the perfect place for a wedding!

Wedding Dress Woes

Like many brides, Madi’s first step was wedding dress shopping…except nothing she tried on felt like the one. After 14 bridal shops and hundreds of wedding gowns later, Madi still didn’t have a dress. Then she stopped at Frankie Jane.

“I love Tatum and Holly at Frankie Jane, they are the best! I could not find anything. It was like a last-minute freak-out.” Since her wedding was so soon, she only had a few options for dresses that would come in time for her big day. At first, she still wasn’t finding anything. Then, magic happened.

“They said, ‘We’ve just been thinking about you, and we have one dress that we’re willing to let you try on. And you can take the sample if you want it, but there’s only that one dress in the whole store.’ And then I tried it on and I literally cried. And that was my wedding dress.”

Take it from Madi, it sometimes takes a while to find your perfect dress! But it’s always worth it when you finally find it. And we couldn’t be more pleased with her choice either, do you see those bows?

Bows, Bows, Bows

Madi and Landon’s July Utah wedding day was nothing short of magical. From the intimate LDS Bountiful Temple ceremony to the bow-tastic reception at Walker Farms, every detail has us fangirling.

And when we say bow-tastic, we mean it. Every inch of their wedding, from top to bottom, was covered in beautiful bows, so many of them! From the napkins to the chairs, the décor was tied together (literally) with thousands of bow details.

“Landon thought maybe we had too many bows at one point, but my mom and I were like, ‘No, we need more!’”

Even her dream dress featured bows, with those small ones all the way down the back, and for the reception, she attached two large custom-made bows to her stunning sleeves, designed by Frankie Jane’s seamstress.

July Utah Wedding Ceremonies

One of the most special moments for Madi and Landon was the drive back to the venue after their sealing at the Bountiful Temple. “It was just the two of us for an hour, and it gave us time to talk about being married.” Take this as your sign to set aside time to soak in the fact that you just got married!

Before the reception, Madi and Landon had a ring ceremony in order to include more family and friends, including Madi’s brother, who had just entered the Missionary Training Center (MTC). Madi and Landon made sure Madi’s brother could attend before he left for his mission, changing their wedding date to two weeks sooner than they had intended, just so he could be there. He even wore his missionary name tag in all the photos!

Madi’s father officiated the ceremony, which was made even more special by two sweet flower girls: her little sisters.

One of the unique elements of the ceremony, a detail that they both loved, was the live harp music. “Not a lot of people have harpists at their wedding, so everyone was amazed!”

Overall, it was a fun-filled, bow-tastic family affair.

Dance Party Details

Madi’s first dance with Landon was another favorite moment, and it came with a musical surprise. Madi’s sister surprised her with a mash-up of God Bless the Broken Road and Can’t Help Falling in Love, which she sang during Madi and Landon’s first dance.

“I didn’t even realize at first that she was the one playing. When I turned around and saw her, I was so shocked!” It was a moment that brought the entire family to tears, and a sweet surprise for Madi.

Like many brides, Madi was nervous that the party might be awkward, but thanks to their DJ, it quickly became a highlight of the night. “It turned into a huge dance party, and everyone said it was their favorite part of the night!”

And the dancing lasted the rest of the night, ending with a romantic, candlelit private last dance for the bride and groom. The soft glow of countless candles (which were wrapped in bows, of course) created the perfect, dreamy last moment of their July Utah wedding day.

For brides in the midst of planning a wedding, Madi’s biggest piece of advice is to focus on the big picture and not stress too much over the small details. She spent hours agonizing over small details like candles for the tables, but realized that while they were pretty, they weren’t the most important part of the day. “No one else notices the little things, so don’t get too caught up in them.”

Take it from these two high school sweethearts, it’s the sweet moments that make your wedding day special. Don’t be afraid to take a moment to soak it all in.

And don’t be afraid to add a few bows here and there, just to tie it all together!
