Vintage Bohemian

Date
May, 23, 2018

We fell in love with this inspiration the second we saw it. Not only was it taken at one of our favorite Utah Valley landmarks — the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple — it is busting with vintage vivaciousness.

Here’s what Alana Dunn, the photographer and designer behind the shoot, had to say about her inspiration:

This is a love letter to the vintage bohemian in all of us. Lets go back in time to the 1960s when the world of fashion stumbled upon a new movement: Indian Bollywood Culture. Elements like opulent fashion, colorful song, and dance routines. India’s fashion popularity was spurred by a growing awareness in the states of foreign cultures, particularly by The Beatles and movie musicals. However, the Bollywood invasion didn’t stop with The Beatles. It swept into all parts of life, especially clothing. The hair and makeup styling consisted of big bouffant American hair mixed with iconic winged eyeliner from India. For once it was acceptable to be a woman with curves, baring trace amounts of skin, too! With this shoot, we wanted to pull from that era and transport it to today and see where we as artists could take it.”

We love the backstory. We adore the Mille Fleur Design bouquet (that greenery and those ribbons, tho). We are smitten with that pink Betsy Couture frock. And we are borderline obsessed with the hair and styling by Jillian Joy. Plus, the temple backdrop is beyond. And the images by Beautifully Dunn Photography are pure beauty and joy.
