For Taylor Kasko and Braden Nickle, love didn’t have to travel far. They both lived at Glenwood apartments in Provo during the fall of 2013. The two were in the same FHE group in their LDS ward; James was the FHE Dad. “I thought he was shy but super sweet,” Taylor says. “Plus, he was the most handsome human being ever.” Taylor then went out on a limb and asked Braden on their first date. “I never knew if he would ask me himself, and I had the biggest crush on him. So I just went for it!” They went to a movie and got ice cream, and the date led to fate. The proposal happened during LDS General Conference weekend and caught Taylor entirely by surprise. Braden got down on one knee and proposed with his Grandma Nickle’s wedding ring. Just … yes. Wedding planning was made smooth and simple with Braden’s sister, Melissa, being the owner of Blossom Sweet. The wedding had an industrial, downtown vibe with a reception in The Southworth Hall in Provo. There were custom fabric chandeliers, old wooden crates for the cake and buffet displays, bistro lights, and fabulous flowers everywhere. “It was the perfect combination of feminine and edgy,” Taylor says. And the warm decor — in cold January, no less — was the perfect backdrop for this moving reception. “I come from a Bosnian heritage, and one of my favorite parts of the wedding was when my grandma taught all of the guests a traditional Bosnian folk dance. It was so fun to see our two families — combined with all of our friends — join together in something so fun and so unique to us.” And at the end of the perfect day, the lovebirds shimmied their way out the door. “Braden and I performed a choreographed dance for our grand exit,” Taylor says. “It was a surprise to all but a few people, and it was so much fun.”
