Forever Folk

Date
May, 13, 2019

It’s Magazine Monday! And the print cover featuring this editorial is now on newsstands! In honor of that, we’re sharing a closer look at these bright beauties below. Enjoy, friends!

OH HELLO, BOHO 2.0!

COME ON IN WHERE THE FOLK IS FINE. Inspiration for this colorful and creative editorial is where the past meets the future. “Boho has been the trend for many Utah brides, but as 2019 was approaching, I saw that not only were my brides becoming more lively and vibrant, they wanted their wedding to be as well,” says Tressa Roberts, owner of Cultivated Events Co. “With folk replacing the expected boho style, the goal of our design was for brides to elevate their celebrations to match their lively personalities.”

LOVING HIM WAS RED.“In cultures where folk originates, red symbolizes ‘joy’ and ‘passion’ and is a color used for protection — which is why it is commonly worn by folk brides,” Tressa says. “For our design, we featured the color red everywhere: in the invitations, in the earrings, in the table decor, on the bridal gown, and especially in our floral. Adding in the pops of yellow, blue, pink, and especially green brought a balance to the vibrant palette.”

WORK OF ART. A wedding cake can be so much more than a sight for sweet eyes. This inspired creation by Sweet Cravings is colorful, playful and utterly unforgettable.

PETALS AT PLAY.  The florals were a crucial part of bringing this colorful design together. “I am a big fan of greenery and all the lovely shades and textures it provides, but for this design, I didn’t want greenery to dilute the pure, bright colors,” says Marianne Hunt of Mille Fleur Design. “I loved using big and lush show-stopping blooms.” The other departure? Carnations! “Carnations to me are a flower of the past, but with so many delectable shades, they are beginning to win me over,” Marianne says.

DISTINCTIVE DETAILS. Where do we even begin? The intricate and ecclectic paper suite from Eccentricity? The tablescape by Cultivated Events Co. with those colorful candles and fabulous red and blue plates? The peacock chairs? The carnation installation? Or how about that bold lip done by Signature Brides & Design? Sometimes the smallest of details make the biggest of impacts.
